Letterpress Printing
Letterpress printing is a printing process that results in stunning, tactile prints. Once you cast your eyes over the sculptural depth and beauty of a letterpress invitation, it's drawn you in.
To create each print, an inked printing plate of your design is pressed into the paper stock. Depending on the amount of pressure and paper stock used, a deep impression can be achieved creating a tactile effect that you can see and feel.
Our Top Tips for Letterpress:
Impression works best when only design elements are pressed into the paper. For example, lines, text and illustrations (not backgrounds)
Avoid solid areas such as backgrounds or large blocks of colour
Use a limited palette - we recommend 1-2 inks
Use thicker lines for text and illustrations for a more dramatic finish
Blind printing is printing without ink. This is a way of using the impression effect without any ink colour to create a subtle printed surface.
Our tips for effective Blind printing:
We don’t recommend Blind for small text as it can be difficult to read
The Blind texture may be less visible in certain lighting
I will always recommend 600gsm for Letterpress especially for Blind as you will get the deepest impression and the best result
